Woman delivers Christmas baby on Phila. SEPTA train

When it comes to delivery stories this may top the charts.

Two Philadelphia transit officers helped a woman give birth to a baby boy on a train Christmas night.

Sgt. Daniel Caban and Officer Darrell James were patrolling near the 15th street station around 6 p.m. when they heard from several passengers that a woman was going into labor, according to Kristin Geiger of The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority, or SEPTA.

Sgt. Caban was the first to arrive on the scene and quickly realized the baby would arrive any minute, Geiger says.

There wasn't an epidural in sight as the officers assisted in delivering the baby boy.

Geiger says the officers removed the umbilical chord from around the boy's neck and handed him to his mother as his father removed his shirt to keep the baby warm.

The officers visited the new mother, Yanjin Li, and her baby Chris at Hahnemann Hospital on Dec. 26.

SEPTA Police Chief Thomas Nestel III tweeted that he wasn't going to penalize baby Chris for hitching a free ride on the train.
