ICYMI: Snow blankets Grand Canyon on New Year's Day

What a wonderful way to ring in 2015 with mother nature.

A storm on New Year's Day turned the Grand Canyon National Park into a picturesque winter scene. Folks can download the breathtaking panorama via Flicker.

The South Rim roads were open but snow-packed and icy.

And the sunset was truly remarkable as well from Yavapai Point, with the Park pointing out that "dry weather and a gradual warming trend starts Saturday and continues into next week."

As expected by Jan. 2, the storm began to lift.
