Penguins hop on iPad game train
Passing the time with iPad games isn't just for people.
At the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, Calif., 19 Magellanic penguins from South America can often be found gathered around an iPad playing "Games for Cats."
The game features digital mice that cats - and now penguins - can't help but pounce on.
Sara Mandel, an aviculturist at the aquarium, says she originally had the game for her cat and decided to try it out on the penguins.
"They started biting it and messing with it," Mandel says in a video posted on Vimeo.
Mandel says the penguins are so focused on the game that she has an opportunity to examine their flippers.
And in case you're taking notes on the next big game for animals, Mandel has some advice.
"They like this game and like shiny objects, so put those things together and probably have another successful game for our birds," Mandel says.
