The icy waters of the Michigan channel proved difficult.
But Coast Guard members managed to rescue a Labrador trying to stay alive on Feb. 3 outside the Frankfort Coast Guard station. The dog was stuck in the channel between Betsie Lake and Lake Michigan, the Grand Rapids Press reports.
The dog apparently fell into the water after slipping through a fence on the south side of the channel, according to the Press.
She was taken to the Benzie County Animal Shelter, the Press reports, and is expected to make a full recovery.
