Tina Fey should replace Stewart on 'Daily Show,' poll finds
America has spoken.
And Tina Fey is the peoples' choice to replace Jon Stewart on The Daily Show, a poll finds.
Nineteen percent of respondents want the 30 Rock creator and Saturday Night Live alum to take the seat when Stewart exits later this year, according to a Quinnipiac University National Poll.
Dennis Miller garnered 16% of the vote, in the poll released March 9. And apparently the choices are different for Democrats and Republicans.
"Two comedians, both former Saturday Night Live mock news readers, lead the pack to fill Jon Stewart's chair," said Tim Malloy, assistant director of the poll, in a statement. "Dennis Miller is the favorite of 24% of Republicans. Tina Fey, with her dead-on take on Sarah Palin, is the darling of 26% of Democrats."
Fey bests Miller among 18- to 34-year-olds, whereas older voters were divided, according to the poll.
Meanwhile, 8% of voters suggested comedian John Oliver, 7% went for NBC's Brian Williams and Craig Ferguson, and 5% prefer for Chelsea Handler.
The university surveyed 1,286 registered voters nationwide from Feb. 26- March 2, with a margin of error of +/- 2.7 percentage points.
