N.Y. Yankees re-create scene from 'The Sandlot'
"The Sultan of Swat!"
With Opening Day coming up some of the New York Yankee baseball players decided to pay homage to every Millennial's favorite movie growing up — The Sandlot.
In a video posted Tuesday on MLB.com, players re-create the unforgettable Babe Ruth scene from the 1993 movie.
Smalls, played by outfielder Brett Gardner, reveals to the sandlot crew that he brought a ball signed by Babe Ruth to the field.
Poor Smalls tells his friends that he lost the ball and maybe even worse, that he thinks Babe Ruth was a woman.
Come on, Smalls, who doesn't know who Babe Ruth is?
Jacoby Ellsbury, Dellin Betances, C.C. Sabathia, Didi Gregorius and Brian McCann play the incredulous Sandlot kids.
The players' acting skills are pretty shaky. It is probably safe to say they should stick with their day jobs.
