What does Jon Hamm say about alcohol-rehab stint?
LOS ANGELES — A day after news broke that Jon Hamm had recently completed an alcohol rehab stint, the Mad Men star Wednesday met with reporters as part of an AMC publicity campaign leading up to the Emmy-winning drama's final seven episodes (premier is April 5, 10 p.m. ET/PT).
When a reporter greeted Hamm and asked how he was doing Wednesday, the actor smiled and said, "Nothing going on in my life."
Later in the conversation with the reporter and Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner, Hamm was asked about the news that had come out the previous day.
"I am as surprised as you are about the Apple Watch's delayed release date. It was shocking to me," he joked, feigning ignorance, before responding politely and seriously about the rehab report. "Obviously, that's information that has been released by third parties. It's very personal and private, and I have nothing else to say on it."
TMZ Tuesday broke news that Hamm, who plays a brilliant ad man whose vices include drinking and womanizing, had checked into a Connecticut addiction-treatment hospital in late February.
His publicist, Annet Wolf, gave a statement to Paste BN later that day confirming the matter: "With the support of his longtime partner Jennifer Westfeldt, Jon Hamm recently completed treatment for his struggle with alcohol addiction. They have asked for privacy and sensitivity going forward."
