Heartbroken Zayn Malik fans just got some great news — thanks to theoretical physics.

Stephen Hawking beamed into Sydney Opera House Saturday night via hologram to speak about his life, his many accomplishments, his struggles with ALS and … One Direction?

In between questions about black holes, religion and the future of humanity, one audience member asked Hawking, "What do you think is the cosmological effect of Zayn leaving One Direction and consequently breaking the hearts of millions of teenage girls across the world?"

Hawking's response? "Finally, a question about something important."

He went on to deliver some hopeful advice, wrapped in a science lesson.

"My advice to any heartbroken young girl is to pay close attention to the study of theoretical physics. Because one day there may well be proof of multiple universes. It would not be beyond the realms of possibility that somewhere outside of our own universe lies another different universe. And in that universe, Zayn is still in One Direction," Hawking said.

Hear that? That's the sound of every Zayn fan becoming a physics major.
