Twitter users ask #whoisburningblackchurches?

Several predominantly black churches in the South have burned in recent days. Officials have attributed at least three of the fires to arson or potential arson.

The latest blaze that destroyed Mount Zion African Methodist Episcopal church in S.C. was not deliberately set, according to a federal source, the Associated Press reported Wednesday.

However, some wonder if the majority of the fires are a result of increased racial tensions following the shooting of nine people on June 17 at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, S.C. The shooting led to increased demand to have the Confederate flag removed from South Carolina's Statehouse grounds, prompting outrage from folks who see the flag as a symbol of southern heritage, including the white supremacist groups like the Ku Klux Klan.

People on Twitter are talking about the church fires with the hashtag #whoisburningblackchurches.
