Woman hit, killed after trying to save suicidal boyfriend


HOUSTON - A woman was hit and killed by an oncoming car early Saturday morning as she tried to save her suicidal boyfriend, according to Harris County Sheriff's Office.

The woman's boyfriend had been drinking at a nearby bar and was suicidal, deputies said.

He apparently was sitting or laying in the middle of the road on round 12:30 a.m. The woman was trying to physically move him from the traffic lanes when she was hit by an oncoming car.

She was killed from the impact, deputies said.

The driver of the car stopped and was not found to be intoxicated. The driver is not facing charges at this time.

The woman's boyfriend was taken into custody to undergo psychiatric evaluation. The woman's identity has not yet been released.
