Giant Minion blocks traffic on Dublin road
Minions are known for causing mayhem on screen, but fantasy became reality on Monday when a giant inflatable version of the animated character came loose and blocked a road in Dublin.
The inflatable broke free from its moorings at a fairground and was swept away by the wind onto a road, the Irish Times reported.
According to Paul McAuliffe, who sits on the Dublin City Council, the Minion could have caused serious harm, the Times reported.
"I don't want to sound like a killjoy, but if that had landed on a cyclist, for instance, it could have been serious," he said.
McAulliffe tweeted a picture of the Minion, calling it "a despicable breach of health & safety."
The Independent.ie reported that the giant Minion, fashioned after the yellow henchmen from the Pixar's Despicable Me, was at least 40 feet tall.
Erin Van Londen told the Independent she saw the Minion at the fair the day before and was shocked to see it on the road.
"We were driving down to the shopping center, and we saw the giant balloon coming towards us," Erin told the Independent.ie.
