Margaret Thatcher was Bush's pick for the $10 bill!?
Well, at least she stood for red, white and blue, too?
Jeb Bush, the former Florida governor, Republican presidential candidate and man we can now also call by his dream Secret Service name, "Ever Ready," gave a head-scratcher of an answer to a lighthearted question during Wednesday's debate.
When asked which woman should be the new face of $10 bills, he said Margaret Thatcher.
Yes, former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, who held the leadership role from 1979 to 1990.
"I would go with Ronald Reagan's partner, Margaret Thatcher. Probably illegal, but what the heck?," he said. The comment sparked a flurry of searches and caused Thatcher's name to trend on Facebook.
"Since it's not going to happen. A strong leader is what we need in the White House, and she certainly was a strong leader that restored the United Kingdom into greatness," he continued.
There are the other responses from the candidates, when asked who the Treasury Department should put on its new $10 bill:
Chris Christie: Abigail Adams
John Kasich: Mother Theresa
Scott Walker: Clara Barton
Carly Fiorina: Wouldn't change it*
Donald Trump: His daughter, Ivanka Trump, or Rosa Parks
Ben Carson: His mother
Ted Cruz: Rosa Parks
Marco Rubio: Rosa Parks
Mike Huckabee: His wife
Rand Paul: Susan B. Anthony
*Fiorina, the only woman in the group of 11 candidates, was also the only person not to throw out a name. She elaborated:
"I wouldn't change the $10 bill, or the $20 bill. I think, honestly, it's a gesture. I don't think it helps to change our history. What I would think is that we ought to recognize that women are not a special interest group. Women are the majority of this nation. We are half the potential of this nation, and this nation will be better off when every woman has the opportunity to live the life she chooses."
