Donald Trump says he was 'stablemates' with Putin

MILWAUKEE — Who knows Russian President Vladimir Putin better?

Maybe Donald Trump, who sat in the same green room with Putin. "We were stablemates on 60 Minutes and that went pretty well," he said, in answering a question about Syria, Ukraine and Russia.

Or is it former Hewlett Packard executive Carly Fiorina.

"I've met him as well," Fiorina said. ""But it wasn't in a green room before a show. It was a private meeting."

The exchange got a little testier:

"Why does she keep interrupting everybody," asked Trump, when Fiorina tried to get in on another question about Putin. The rebuke resulted in some boos from the audience.

Meanwhile, Marco Rubio said he's never met Putin, "but I know one thing — he's a gangster."
