NYPD waves French flag during Macy's parade

This Thanksgiving, the New York Police Department marched in the Macy's parade, waving the French flag in solidarity for the victims of the recent Paris terror attacks.

The largest number of police officers ever were on duty to protect the parade this year, according to New York Mayor Bill de Blasio.

The mayor told New Yorkers on Wednesday that the parade route was safe amid fears of terrorism that have shaken the world.

“We expect the largest attendance ever for this parade,” de Blasio said. “We also have the most NYPD presence we've ever had for one of these parades, thousands and thousands of officers out along the parade route, including hundreds of our new counter terror force, the critical response command," The New York Daily News reports.
