Smiling donkey saved from floodwaters
Look at that smiling face!
A donkey in Kerry, Ireland, was saved on Dec. 6 from floodwaters by volunteers.
Animal Heaven Animal Rescue (AHAR) posted on Facebook yesterday that the donkey has been named Mike after one of the rescuers.
"He is now dried with towels, eating a hot mash, all cozy and warm and our vet has seen him and started him on antibiotics to prevent pneumonia," the rescue posted. "All he needs is loads of tlc."
Suzanne Gibbons, founder of AHAR, had received a call from the donkey's owner that he had escaped during the night when a storm caused damaged to his stable, the rescue said.
"His owner had found him that morning out in the field, and because the river had burst it's banks the donkey was stranded," the rescue said in a statement.
After a volunteer offered a boat, the donkey was towed to safety.
