Beached whale in Texas dies

GALVESTON, Texas - A whale has died after beaching itself on Galveston's West beach in Texas.

A person walking along the beach spotted the whale early Tuesday morning. It was 30 yards offshore.

Rescue crews from the Texas Marine Mammal Stranding Network were on site for several hours.

They estimate the whale is about 40 feet long.
