Nevada firearms group pushes for Second Amendment license plate
A Nevada firearms group is asking residents to show their support for the Second Amendment by voting on a license plate.
The Nevada Firearms Coalition recently released four license plate options that feature the slogan “Protect the Second Amendment,” KSNV-TV reported.
The organization is asking Nevada drivers to vote on their favorite license plate so the group can submit the design to the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).
“This is your chance to spread your passion for defending the 2nd Amendment every time you're on the road,” the group said in a statement.
To create the license plate, the Nevada DMV requires $5,000, KSNV reported. So in addition to voting, supporters are asked to donate money.
“You know I’ll be first in line at the DMV the day the winning design gets released,” Don Turner, president of Nevada Firearms Coalition, told KSNV.
Voting for the plates will last until the group hits their monetary target, Turner told Fox. Even if the group gets the necessary funding, they aren’t guaranteed the license plate, according to Turner.
He said the DMV has the power to reject the design.
