Squatter armed with machete found in Utah home
KEARNS, Utah (AP) — Authorities say a squatter found in a home in Kearns armed with a machete has been arrested.
KUTV in Salt Lake City reports that Unified police took 25-year-old Scott Thomson into custody Saturday.
According to a probable cause statement, Thomson allegedly chased a homeowner down the street with a machete.
Officers caught him about a block away.
Thomson told police that he had been staying there for a few days off and on. He also admitted to consuming meth earlier in the day.
Police recovered heroin, a needle and a knife.
The owners had been staying at a hotel after a fire damaged the property several weeks ago.
It was not known if Thomson had an attorney.
