New tiger makes its debut at the Houston Zoo
Berani is a 3-year-old, 280-pound Malayan tiger, who came to the Houston Zoo from Point Defiance Zoo in Tacoma, Washington.

HOUSTON – A new tiger made its debut Tuesday morning at the Houston Zoo.Berani is a 3-year-old, 280 lb. Malayan tiger.
He came to Houston from Point Defiance Zoo in Tacoma, Wash., in late January.
Berani and Satu, a female tiger, will take turns in the tiger yard while they undergo a formal introduction process overseen by zookeepers.
Fewer than 3,500 total tigers remain in the wild today, according to the Tiger Conservation Campaign. Only about 300 of them are Malayan tigers.
