Grass cutting crew finds woman's body off Louisiana interstate

A landscaping crew discovered a body while cutting grass in the median of Interstate 10 in Louisiana around lunch time Monday.

The body has been identified as Jenise Williams, 35, of Harvey, La.

Two days earlier, Louisiana State Police responded to a one-car crash in the same area of I-10. A truck with major damage to its front end had been moved from the crash scene and moved to the shoulder. Troopers have tied that crash to Williams' death.

The driver of the truck, Brodnick Whittington, 25, was not at the scene when troopers arrived. Whittington refused to return to the scene when troopers called him, according to LSP.

At that time, troopers impounded his vehicle for investigation.

After Williams' body was found, troopers arrested Whittington on charges of felony hit and run, obstruction of justice, driving with a suspended license and driving with an open container.

Louisiana State Police are still investigating why Williams was walking along the Interstate.
