As the nation mourned the 50 dead in Orlando following Sunday morning's shootings in a gay nightclub there, tributes and signs of resilience poured in from across the United States.

DC gay men's chorus sings 'We Shall Overcome' outside White House

A video surfaced on Twitter that reportedly shows Gay Men's Chorus of Washington D.C. singing the Civil Rights anthem "We Shall Overcome" outside the White House during a vigil in the nation's capital.

Empire State Building goes dark as One World Trade Center lights up

The Empire State Building in New York City went dark Sunday night in sympathy for victims in Orlando. That same night, across Manhattan, the spire of One World Trade Center displayed the colors of the rainbow to honor the shootings' LGBT victims. 

San Bernardino nurses to those in Orlando: 'Thinking of you!' 

Twitter user @natziepatzie published photographs of staffers at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in California's San Bernardino County sending well wishes to their counterparts at hospitals in Orlando. Fourteen died in San Bernardino during shootings there last December.

Orlando police chief to staff: 'I couldn't be more proud'

John Mina, Orlando's chief of police, expressed that he "couldn't be more proud" to lead his department in a heartfelt letter to his staff published to Facebook on Sunday. In it, he tells them that "because of that training and your professionalism, we saved dozens of lives this morning."

Those gathered for a vigil in Dallas to mourn victims of the Orlando shooting posted photos of a rainbow that reportedly appeared overhead.
