Man breaks BMW window to rescue dog trapped in hot car
A determined man broke the window of a BMW with a rock on Saturday to save a dog that appeared to be overheating in the parking lot of a festival in Ontario.
A video uploaded on Facebook by Will Costa, shows the unidentified man repeatedly hurling a large rock at the window, and ultimately breaking it. In the video, the man pulls the drenched dog out of the car as people watch.
Costa told Global News that the announcer at the concert repeatedly told the crowds that a dog was locked inside someone’s car.
“The owners were not around, and someone had mentioned they had called the police,” he told Global News. “So we kind of waited around a bit until police showed up or the owners showed up.”
When no one came, several onlookers decided to try to get the dog out of the car on their own.
“A gentleman in the blue, which you see in the video – he tried pulling down the window, there was a small crack in the sunroof, but nothing was happening,” Costa said.
The man finally used a rock to break the glass and free the animal.
Costa told Global News that the owners and police did not show up until fifty minutes later, and appeared to be confused by the incident.
Ontario Provincial Police said they are conducting an investigation into the incident, TODAY reported.
Police said the owners were not upset the window was broken, Global News reported.
