Ice cream truck ejects driver, flips on I-95

MIMS, Fla. — An ice cream truck driver was seriously injured Thursday when her vehicle suddenly began shaking and swerved, ejecting her before crashing on Interstate 95 near Mims.

The driverless truck continued along to the center median, flipping several times before coming to rest heavily damaged on a guardrail, Florida Highway Patrol troopers said.

The driver of the 1994 GMC truck suffered critical injuries, according to troopers. A passenger in the vehicle, 34-year-old Nigicuela Jones of California, was treated for minor injuries at Parrish Medical Center in Titusville. Police did not release the driver's name, but indicated she is a 34-year-old Mims woman.

The crash happened around 10:40 a.m. ET on I-95 near Stuckway Road.
