Goat drowns trying to escape photographers in Alaska

Crowds trying to take photographs trapped a mountain goat in a bay, where the animal eventually drowned Saturday.

The animal, spotted in Seward, Alaska, went into the water to escape harassment and couldn’t get back on land because so many people were standing along the rocks, Alaska Dispatch News reported.

Alaska Wildlife Troopers told KTUU crowds “not giving the animal space and getting too close resulted in a wild animal dying for no cause.”

The Alaska Department of Fish and Game advises people to never chase an animal.
