Watch: Empire State building struck by lightning

A photographer captured stunning video of lightning striking the Empire State Building during a summer storm in New York City on Monday.

Henrik Moltke of The Intercept uploaded a video of the thunderstorm on YouTube and posted pictures on Twitter with the caption “Boom.”

In the video, Moltke focuses his camera on the Empire State Building as lightning strikes the building.

“I got that,” Moltke says in the video.

The Empire State Building is no stranger to lightning. The 102-story building is struck by lightning an average of 23 times a year, according to the building's website.
