3-year-old killed by car while celebrating birthday

MILWAUKEE — A 3-year-old girl who was celebrating her birthday Saturday died after being struck by a car, police say.

The girl ran into the street between two parked cars to greet a relative and was struck by a passing car.

Despite life-saving efforts from the Milwaukee Fire Department and by personnel at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin, the girl died, police said.

Police said the driver remained on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

Police said they had no more details about the incident.
