Giant Panda Bao Bao celebrates birthday at National Zoo

It’s a birthday celebration!

Bao Bao, the National Zoo's giant panda, celebrated her third birthday on Tuesday.

But Bao Bao, isn't the only panda with a birthday in August. The zoo held a birthday party for her brother, Bei Bei, who turned one, on Saturday, according to a statement from Smithsonian. 

Bao Bao’s birthday marks the countdown to her departure from the zoo for China, where she will enter the country’s panda breeding program. She will likely be transferred from the National Zoo to China around her fourth birthday.

Pandas can breed between four and eight years of age, according to the zoo.
