Suspect killed, deputy wounded in Colo. shooting
PARKER, Colo. — A sheriff's deputy was critically wounded and a suspect was killed during a shootout Friday in Colorado, authorities say.
According to Douglas County Sheriff Tony Spurlock, police and deputies were responding to a report of a suicidal person in Parker, southeast of Denver. The suspect fired his weapon at officers, striking the deputy.
The suspect then fled in an RV and was later shot and killed.
Spurlock identified the wounded deputy as Dan Brite, who is married to another Douglas County deputy. Spurlock said Brite was undergoing surgery Friday afternoon.
