Judge robbed on way to church
DETROIT — A Detroit judge on her way to a church service was robbed in Lafayette Park Sunday morning near downtown, police said.
The judge, a 69-year-old woman, was waiting in her car in the 1500 block of Cherboneau Place around 8 a.m. when a man walked up to her vehicle and demanded her purse, DPD Officer Jennifer Moreno said.
"No firearm was seen but he did imply that he had one and threatened to shoot her," Moreno said, adding that the judge complied and gave him her purse.
Moreno said the judge had a firearm in her purse, around $200 and other miscellaneous items like her keys. Moreno said the woman was not injured in the robbery. Police did not release the judge's name.
