Needle reportedly found Halloween Tootsie Roll
COMMERCIAL TOWNSHIP, N.J. --- New Jersey State police are urging parents to check Halloween candy following reports of a sewing needle found inside a Tootsie Roll.
Detectives from the Port Norris barracks are investigating a report by a Commercial Township woman who said she found the needle between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. while inspecting her child's candy Monday.
Police said no suspects have been named and they are still looking into the alleged tampered candy.
“As our detectives continue to investigate this incident, we strongly recommend that parents continue to check their children's Halloween candy,” police said in their post. “Many of us with kids may not have gotten around to checking the mounds of candy, but let's get it done tonight.”
