Gettysburg wax figure museum collection to be auctioned

YORK, Pa. — After 60 years of operation, the Hall of Presidents and First Ladies Museum in Gettysburg has closed, and its wax figure collection is scheduled to be auctioned off.

The museum featured a collection that included a life-size figure of every U.S. president and a one-third-scale figure of every first lady. The collection is one of a few in the country and has been viewed by over a million people since 1957, according to a release from the museum.

All figures of U.S. presidents and first ladies will be auctioned, starting at 10 a.m. on Jan. 14 at the 1863 Inn of Gettysburg. A snow make-up date for the auction is Jan. 15.

Two preview events will be held at the museum: 12-5 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 8, and 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 12. The museum is located at 789 Baltimore St., Gettysburg.
