Muslim-owned restaurant offers free Christmas Day meal to homeless and older people

A Muslim-owned restaurant in London is offering free meals to the homeless and older people on Christmas Day.

Shish restaurant, which serves Turkish food, recently posted a sign on its storefront window offering three-course meals to those who are facing a less-than-merry Christmas day.

“No one eats alone on Christmas Day,” the sign says. “We are here to sit with you.”

In a Facebook post, shared by the restaurant on Nov. 17, the restaurant urged people to spread news about the free meal to those who may need it.

The restaurant originally posted a handwritten sign on their window, but later replaced it with a poster.

Hasan Masud, an employee at the restaurant, told BuzzFeed News that the restaurant wanted to open their doors to homeless and the older people who may be staying home alone on Christmas Day.

“We’re just trying to help people,” he told Buzzfeed.
