A group of Best Buy employees in New York chipped in to give a young customer a Wii U after the young man came into the story daily to play the gaming console.

"On behalf of all of us here at Best Buy, we got you a Wii U," an employee said in a video, which was posted on YouTube and Instagram. "This is something we did for you. Everyone here that you see, we all got together and chipped in so you could have it."

According to the post, the employees at the Valley Stream, N.Y., store collected money to purchase the Wii U for the young man, who appeared shocked when presented with the gift.

"This kid came in every single day to play the display Wii U," wrote Rahiem Storr, who posted the YouTube video. "The employees in this store saw an opportunity to make a child smile and did just that."

The console sells for $299.99 on the company's site.

Shane Kitzman, a spokesman with Best Buy, confirmed the video is real and identified the employees who came up with the plan as Kenneth Fernandez and Pal Ndoja.
