Frenchman Thomas Coville sailed around the world and into the record books this week after completing his journey in just 49 days.

The 48-year-old set off from an island in the English Channel on November 6 and sailed into the port of Brest in western France on Monday, AP reported.

Coville’s trip spanned 49 days, 3 hours, 7 minutes and 38 seconds, according to Coville’s website.

The solo trip around the world was Coville’s third attempt to break the previous record of 57 days, according to AP.
