Magnitude 4.2 earthquake hits Washington peninsula
BELFAIR, Wash. — A magnitude 4.2 earthquake hit the Kitsap Peninsula on Wednesday night, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The quake struck 8.6 miles west of Belfair at about 9 p.m. PT at a depth of 10 miles.
Reports of shocks were felt as far away as Olympia, about 60 miles south.
There was no tsunami warning issued and no reports of damage or injuries.
A little more than an hour later, a 4.8 magnitude temblor hit off the coast of Port Hardy, Canada, which is 430 miles northwest of Seattle.
