Indian anchor learns of her husband's death while on air

A news anchor in India learned that her husband was killed Saturday in a car accident while she reported about the event on live TV, according to local news outlets.

Supreet Kaur, an anchor for the news channel IBC24, was on air when a reporter called in with details about a deadly car crash that left three dead, CNN reported. As Kaur listened to the details of the crash, she realized that her husband was likely one of the victims.

Despite her inkling that one of the people killed was her spouse, she kept her composure throughout the news segment, only breaking down after his death was confirmed to her off air, the Hindustan Times reported.

"She was doing her job, and she kept on doing it with composure and without showing her emotions on air," IBC24 editor-in-chief Ravi Kant Mittal told CNN.

Kaur had been married for about 18 months, according to CNN.

Dr. Raman Singh, chief minister of India's Chhattisgarh state, tweeted his condolences to Kaur on Saturday.
