Playboy model Dani Mathers faces trial over naked body-shaming Snapchat

A judge denied Playboy model Dani Mathers' attempt to avoid trial over a photo she secretly took of a nude woman and then shared on social media.
On Monday, a Los Angeles judge denied the 30-year-old's motion to dismiss the charge against her and avoid trial, the New York Daily News reported.
Mathers, who was the 2015 "Playmate of the Year," took a photo of a naked 70-year-old woman at the gym in July 2016 and posted it on Snapchat with the message: If I can’t unsee this, then you can’t either.
The photo outraged many of Mathers fans and quickly spread on social media as people slammed the Playboy model for body shaming.
Mathers is charged with misdemeanor invasion of privacy under a California law that makes it illegal to photograph an “identifiable person” without their permission, the New York Daily News reported.
Mathers' legal team took issue with the “identifiable person” language, arguing that the woman in the photo was not easily identifiable, and that Los Angeles police took great pains to identify the woman, the New York Daily News reported.
"This was a far-away shot, and the victim, her features cannot be identified," defense lawyer Dana Cole argued Monday, the New York Daily News reported.
Los Angeles judge Gustavo Sztraicher didn't agree, and Mathers trial is tentatively set for May 26.
