Ex-Ag Sec. Tom Vilsack's 6-year-old granddaughter dies

Former U.S. Secretary of Agriculture and ex-governor of Iowa Tom Vilsack's 6-year-old granddaughter died early Friday morning, his staff confirmed.

Ella Vilsack died from a sudden illness, a spokesman for the family said Saturday. 

She was the daughter of Jess Vilsack, the son of Tom and Christie Vilsack.

Jess, their oldest son, is a partner at Nyemaster Goode, an Iowa law firm.
