Is this the sexiest American accent? Europeans think so
It's no secret that Americans love European accents, but a new survey shows the feeling is mutual.
Europeans find Southern accents particularly alluring, closely followed by New Yorkers, Bostonian accents and Southern Californian accents, according to a survey from Global language-learning app Babbel.
To get an idea of which American accents make Europeans heart pitter-patter, a team of linguistics experts from Babbel identified seven U.S. accents and surveyed almost 500 Generator Hostel workers who hail from 34 countries.
These people hear a lot of accents in their work.
Here's how the accents favored:
1. Deep South (20%)
2. New Yorker (18%)
3. Bostonian (17%)
4. Southern Californian (16%)
5. Texan (14%)
6. Midwestern (10%)
7. Minnesotan (5%)
While New York came in second in this survey, a 2015 survey of 1,000 British Airways travelers New Yorkers had the "sexiest regional accent," and Bostonians sounded the most "intelligent."
