Police: Reports of gunman at MIT unfounded

Reports of a gunman carrying a long rifle at The Massachusetts Institute of Technology were unfounded, police said.

Initial reports said a man carrying a rifle and wearing body armor was spotted in a campus building, and the school was placed on lockdown.

Cambridge Police tweeted at 10:19 that the scene was all clear. Police searched the school's Main Group Building, where the gunman was reportedly seen, but did not find anyone.
