The number of people unaccounted for in flood-ravaged Colorado rose to at least 1,254 as flooding spread to 15 counties and rain continued to fall. Larry Summers withdraws from Fed consideration

Federal Reserve Vice Chair Janet Yellen has emerged as the favorite to win the chairman's job after former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers withdrew his name from consideration. If nominated by President Obama, and confirmed by the Senate, Yellen, 67, would replace Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke, who is expected to step down in January. Obama is expected to nominate someone as soon as this month.

Obama to speak on 5th anniversary of financial crisis

President Obama will deliver a speech Monday on the fifth anniversary of the event that helped elect him back in 2008: The financial crisis. Obama "will be joined on-stage and in the audience by people that have benefited from his economic recovery proposals over the last five years," the White House said in a statement, "including small business owners, construction workers, homeowners, consumers and tax cut recipients."

Miss America crowns 2014 winner

After a night of big numbers, endless crowd cheering, swim-suit strutting, dancing, singing and, yes, answering those tough judges' questions, the 53 Miss America contestants (50 states, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands) were narrowed down to one winner.
