Pregnant woman set fire to apartment, stole infant
INDIANAPOLIS — A pregnant woman abducted an infant, set fire to an apartment and stole a vehicle early Friday before officers captured her.
The woman, Desiree Kemp, is nine months pregnant, according to Fox59-TV.
The incident began shortly before 4:30 a.m. at the Cross Creek Apartments on the city's northwest side, Metropolitan police Officer Christopher Wilburn said.
She set a fire to an apartment, grabbed a 1-month-old and fled in a stolen vehicle. Police captured Kemp shortly after 5:30 a.m.
The infant had no apparent injuries, but was taken to Riley Hospital for Children for a checkup.
There was no word on what charges Kemp might face.
