JFK Library reassures children: Nothing can stop Santa
In case any children are worried that a North Korean cyberattack or anything else could stop Santa Claus from making his rounds this year, there's this reassuring artifact from the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation in Boston: Not even Soviet nuclear tests could stop him.
The library posted to YouTube a one-minute holiday greeting that featured a note sent by President Kennedy in 1961 to an 8-year-old girl worried about the mixture of nuclear tests and Christmas gifts.
Here's the text of JFK's note:
"Dear Michelle,
I was glad to get your letter about trying to stop the Russians from bombing the North Pole and risking the life of Santa Claus.
I share your concern about the atmospheric testing of the Soviet Union, not only for the North Pole but for countries throughout the world; not only for Santa Claus but for people throughout the world.
However, you must not worry about Santa Claus. I talked with him yesterday and he is fine. He will be making his rounds again this Christmas.
Sincerely,
John F. Kennedy"
