Former president George H.W. Bush has 'good day' in hospital

Former President George H.W. Bush, who was hospitalized Tuesday in Houston with shortness of breath, had "a good day" Wednesday and his prognosis "remains positive," his office said.

Bush, 90, was spending Christmas Eve at the Houston Methodist Hospital "as a precaution," according to a statement released Wednesday night.

Two years ago, Bush spent nearly two months in the same hospital for treatment of a bronchitis-related cough and other health issues.

The 41st president suffers from a form of Parkinson's disease and uses a wheelchair or a motorized scooter.

President Barack Obama, who is vacationing in Hawaii, has been notified about Bush's hospital admission.

"President Obama and the first lady send their good wishes to the former president and the entire Bush family during this holiday season," White House spokesman Eric Schultz said.
