Boy killed when shooter targeted brother, his aunt says

HOUSTON — A 12-year-old boy was killed in a violent confrontation where the intended target likely was the child's brother, his aunt said.
The gunman has not been captured, said Sgt. Cedrick Collier of the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
Deunte Cooks of Houston died at about 1 p.m. ET Thursday when someone knocked on the family's door asking for Deunte's 23-year-old brother, Dashawn Norwood, said Alma Hardy, Deunte's aunt. Shots rang out.
"The babies did call me at the time, (but) between the rustling and bustling, it was hard to understand what was actually was going on," Hardy said. "The intent was to kill."
Norwood jumped out a window in an attempt to escape. He was shot in the mouth and transported to an area hospital in critical condition, Hardy said.
Another bullet grazed their 18-year-old brother. He also was taken to a hospital.
Duente died at the scene.
"At this point, we know there's a disturbance. We don't know what type," Collier said. "We have recovered a weapon."
