Teen accused of killing family back in Houston

RAYMOND, Miss. — The Houston teen accused of killing his father, mother and 5-year-old brother has returned to Houston.

Two Harris County Sheriff's deputies left Raymond, Miss., with 19-year-old Isaac Tiharihondi just after noon for the eight-hour drive back to Houston.

Tiharihondi spent four nights in isolation in a Mississippi jail cell and sources say they kept a close watch on him.

Tiharihondi is accused of beating his parents, the Rev. Israel and Dorcus Ahimbisibwe, to death with a baseball bat, a lamp and a hammer. His 5-year-old brother Israel Jr. was killed with a kitchen knife.

Neighbors at the family's Memorial City-area apartment complex are still stunned.

"We had a Bible study here every week and Dorcas was part of the Bible study," said Nancy, a neighbor. "They were well-liked and well-respected."

Many locals in Mississippi churches Sunday said a prayer for the Memorial City family bludgeoned to death a week ago.

"We pray for the family and the loved ones that is connected to this Mr. Father God," said Elbert Dott with New Beginnings Christian Fellowship Church in Pearl, Miss.

"My heart … just — I felt so sad," said one church member.

Sources say Tiharihondi left the Memorial City apartment a few days after the murders and got a ride from someone to New Orleans, then took a cab to a motel in Jackson, Miss. He used his father's credit card to pay for the room.

While details of the crime are disturbing enough, many others are surprised the teen would travel to Mississippi.

Meantime, ministers there have a message for him.

"Get a relationship with the Lord; he will forgive you," said Dott. "It's going to take you making the first step, to say, 'Lord, here I am.'"
