1 dead, 4 injured in drive-by near Tenn. university
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. — One man died and four others were seriously injured Monday night after they came under gunfire from a passing car while they were cooking out at a home.
Police were called to the home just before 9 p.m.
Five men were shot, in all, and one died, according to Clarksville Police spokeswoman Natalie Hall. Police are looking for three black men seen leaving the area in a Kia Soul with a Tennessee tag R0393D.
The victims have been identified as 27-year-old Vincent Pardue, 31-year-old Timothy Russell, 23-year-old Dajuan Dowlen, 28-year-old Tony Greene Jr., and 27-year old Quinton Fentress,
Pardue died of his injuries, Hall said.
Greene and Fentress were flown by LifeFlight to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment.
Russell and Dowlen were transported to Gateway Regional Medical Center for treatment.
At about 10 p.m., the university issued a campus safety alert.
"Although there does not appear to be a danger to the university community, please take precautions to ensure your safety," the alert said.
