Stranded teen sends tweet before dramatic rescue

SANGER, Texas — A young man tweeted from the roof of his pickup truck just before a dramatic rescue from intense flood waters in North Texas on Sunday.
Two teens' curiosity with exploring around flash floods nearly cost them their lives in Sanger, Texas, a community in Denton County, nearly 52 miles northwest of Dallas.
On Sunday, Duck Creek in Sanger overran its banks and the road named after it. Two teens in a red pickup truck were stranded. They climbed to the top of the truck's cab and waited.
Rescuers on the water holding life jackets tried to slowly make their way to the boys on their hands and feet. They held on tight to a fence with currents rushing through it.
When that method was deemed too risky, rescuers slowly moved away from the stranded truck.
In the middle of all of it, one of the two stranded teens took to social media.
"I'm ok guys my truck dream is ruined waiting on a heli evac (evacuation) rn (right now)," Lane Wisdom tweeted from the roof of his truck, which he calls "Vortec Express" on social media.
After considering a boat rescue, crews brought in a Black Hawk chopper, which pulled both to safety after an hour stranded on top of the truck.
Back on dry land, Gus McNairy described the rescue succinctly.
"Scary," said McNairy.
"Pretty nerve-racking," said Larry Wisdom, Lane's grandfather. "We feel very fortunate and we appreciate the rescuers and the National Guard."
Lane Wisdom, a student at Sanger High School, tweeted that he didn't want to talk to any news reporters after the incident, but described the event on his social media account.
"The way it happened there was about a foot of water on the road I was going to make it through then like a movie a wave shoved me off road," he tweeted.
Wisdom gained hundreds of followers because of his oddly-timed social media presence. With many Twitter users questioning his judgment for getting stuck in the first place, he changed his Twitter name to "Yes Im That Idiot."
