Police: Hair spray and lighter used in assault

CINCINNATI — A Reading, Ohio, man was arrested and charged with assault Saturday night after police said he "went after" his girlfriend with a can of hair product he lit on fire with a lighter.

Raymond Sherrod, 33, was arrested in the 50 block of Gorman Lane around 10:40 p.m. Saturday. He faces misdemeanor assault charges.

During an altercation, police say that Sherrod took a can of oil sheen hair product, lit the aerosol stream on fire with a cigarette lighter and "went after" his girlfriend, according to court documents.

Sherrod's girlfriend told police that Sherrod was also trying to start a fire in her apartment, records state.

Sherrod is being held in the Hamilton County Justice Center without bond. He is scheduled to be arraigned Monday morning.
