Reports: Shooting at Alexandria Mall in Louisiana

One person was hurt after shots were fired Thanksgiving night at the Alexandria Mall in Alexandria, La., the Town Talk is reporting.

A man who answered the telephone at the Alexandria Police Department said he could not release any information and referred Paste BN to a second telephone line that was not answered.

There was no answer at the main telephone line at the mall.

The altercation took place between two people in two vehicles who left the scene after the shots were fired, the Town Talk reported. One person was taken to a hospital for treatment, according to the news organization.

"It appears that this dispute, which occurred in the far edge of the parking lot near Sears, is unrelated to the shopping or mall operation," a police department statement read. "Officers closed down one entrance to one store in order to process possible evidence. No other stores were affected."

Twitter user Lauren, @Laaureennn_ of Pineville, La., tweeted that there were "gunshots in Sears and now JC Penney's. Glass was everywhere."

KALB News Channel 5 tweeted that there were reports "...of possible shots fired in Alexandria Mall parking lot. Information is limited at this time. Details to come."

The mall opened in 1973.

An investigation is underway, according to the Town Talk.
